Managing Power Electronics: VLSI and DSP-Driven Computer Systems By Nazzareno Rossetti

Power Management of State-of-the-Art Computer and DSP-Driven Systems discusses the state-of-the-art power management of modern electronic appliances. As opposed to the other books on the topic currently available, which focus on a topological approach to voltage regulation, this book inverts that approach by putting the appliances first and then diving into the power management architecture that best serves each appliance. Author Reno Rossetti discusses some of the most popular electronics appliances, specifically the desktop PC, as well as portable computing with notebook PCs, and ultra-portable appliances (PDAs, cell phones, and digital still cameras). The book also presents the fundamental theories and issues facing the power management industry, including issues of physical and socio-economics, Moore's Law, and its impact upon the industry. Chapters include appropriate technology cross section drawings as well as transistor circuits schematics, with mathematical formulas where appropriate
